Although I typically talk about farm to table here at the Garden Apartment, I'm taking a moment to talk about something a little different (although quite similar)-- a table to farm dinner hosted by the Neighborhood Restaurant Group.
Table to farm? Yes, that's right. Rather than bringing the farm to your own home table, this event invites you to gather right on the farm.
The Summer Solstice Supper will be held on June 20th on beautiful farmland in Loudon County. The food for the dinner will be harvested that very day, and then prepared expertly by chef Anthony Chittum of Vermillion Restaurant. Dennis Horton, of Virginia's Horton Vineyards, will do the wine pairings for each course.
Guests are also invited to mingle with farmers from the area, including Ellen Polishuk of Potomac Vegetable Farms, Chip and Susan Planck of Wheatland Farms, Rob Moutoux Jr. of Moutoux Orchard, Barbara Lamborne of Greenstone Fields and Georgia O'Neal and Zach Lester of Tree and Leaf Farm.
In case of rain on June 20th, the event will be moved to the following Saturday, June 27th.
Tickets are $160 + tax per person. Please call (703) 447-1757 or email cparker@neighborhood restaurantgroup.com for reservations and more information.
